Handing down punishment to a man for illegally cutting trees, a court here has ordered him to pay Rs 4.68 lakh.

Sub divisional magistrate of Musafirkhana in Amethi district Abhay Kumar Pandey ordered Inamullah of Pur Suchit Mahona Paschim under police station Bazar Shukl to deposit Rs Rs 4.68 lakh in the state treasury.

SDM Pandey said that Inamullah had cut more than 250 eucalyptus trees on farm no 922 near a pond in his village in February, 2016.

On the complaint of a villager, then SDM had ordered the alleged tree cutter to deposit the amount but Inamullah approached the high court against the order.

The high court heard both sides and then asked the concerned officer to redress the problem.

Subsequently, SDM Pandey asked tehsildar of Musafirkhana for the evaluation of the concerned trees and ordered Inamullah to deposit the amount.
