A local court today directed police to look into allegations of irregularities by the Ashok Gehlot government in allotting tender in construction of a dam over Kali Sindh river in Jhalawar district.

The order came on a criminal complaint filed by Shyam Singh Rathore, a resident of Jhotwara, who alleged the tender process floated by the previous government was unilaterally cancelled by the Gehlot-government.

The complainant stated that cost of construction of the dam was Rs 267.74 crore, but was awarded to Om Metals Infrastructure Pvt Ltd for Rs 457.21 crore, which was approximately Rs 200 crore more.

It has also been alleged that, work was to be completed in two years from April 30, 2010, but was yet to be over.

The Magistrate recorded statements of complainant on August 27 and has now directed the Ashok Nagar Police to investigate the matter and file a report before the court.
