Court orders Rs 65.28 lakh compensation in road accident case

Fourth Additional District and Sessions Judge C. Kumarappan last evening ordered the National Insurance Company to deposit the money within one month.

The order was passed on a Motor Vehicle Accident Claims Original Petition (MCOP) by Vijay Rampal and Sakthi Kumaran, brothers, seeking compensation. Divisional Manager of the insurance company was cited as respondent.

Their father Sundaravel,59, who was working as Manager in the Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Tiruchirappalli, mother Renuga Devi (50), and sister Kanishka (15) were killed when the van in which they were travelling collided headon with another vehicle on January 13,2010. The two petitioners escaped with minor injuries.

 

The Judge ordered the insurance company to pay Rs.65.28 lakh to the two brothers for loss of their loved one and earning member of the family and directed the respondent to deposit the money with full interest within one month.
