Majeet Singh Mahal, one of the "most-wanted" gangsters of Delhi, was today sent to five days police custody by a court here after the city cops submitted that he was required for custodial interrogation in a number of cases including that of murder of ex-MLA Bharat Singh in 2015.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sumit Dass sent the accused, wanted in around two dozen cases, into the custody of the special cell of Delhi Police after the agency said that he was required for unearthing the larger conspiracy.

According to the police, Mahal was allegedly involved in several cases of extortion, murder, attempt to murder and Arms Act. He was wanted in sensational murder cases including gunning down of the ex-MLA in March 2015.

A reward of Rs 50,000 had earlier been announced by Delhi Police Commissioner for information leading to his arrest, the police said.
