Additional Sessions Judge Narinder Kumar also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on Ishtiaq.
"Convict Ishtiaq is hereby sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of seven years and to pay fine of Rs 5,000," the court said.
The court sentenced Ishtiaq taking into account various factors, including the manner in which he committed the crime by chasing his victim with a weapon in his hand and attacked him to rob him.
According to the prosecution, Ishtiaq had on the night of October 29, 2010, robbed one Naushad of Rs 900 at knife point in front of a shop in Shadipur here after he saw him keeping the money in his pocket. PTI HMP
