A special electricity court has sententenced two persons to three years' rigorous imprisonment finding them guilty of involvement in theft of power.

The court also slapped a penalty of Rs 62 lakh on Rajesh and Surjeet, both residents of Nithari village in North West Delhi, for illegally drawing power, officials from power distribution company Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd said.

A case was lodged against the duo on the basis of an inspection conducted by TPDDL's enforcement team on July 27, 2006.

The convicts were found taking supply directly and illegally by tampering with the incoming service cable passing over their roof near SKV School in Nithari village, the TPDDL officials said.
