Court sentences eight to life for murdering shopkeeper

A local court today sentenced eight persons to life imprisonment for murdering a shopkeeper during a riot at Dahkheri village here in 2006.

Additional District Sessions judge Mayank Chouhan convicted Mushtak, Sabu, Shokin, Rifamat, Sultan, Taswer, Mosam and Hasnu under relevant sections of IPC for murdering Mangta on January 7, 2006.

A fine of Rs 31,000 each was also imposed on the convicts.

According to government counsel Anjum Khan, Mangta was shot dead over boundary dispute at Dahkheri village under Sikheda police station in the district. A case of rioting and murder was registered against the eight persons in the incident.
