A local court today sentenced a man to four years' rigorous imprisonment for peddling of cannabis in Kendrapara district.
District and Sessions Judge Biranchi Kumar Rath convicted Narittam Sahu under Section-20 (b) Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The court also slapped Rs 25,000 as fine on the convict.
Sahu had been arrested from Pattamundai on September 19, 2006 with 13.5 KG of cannabis worth over Rs 13 lakh, prosecution counsel Bhimsen Bhuyan had said during hearing.
The court awarded the verdict on the basis of circumstantial and material evidences.
