A Baripada court today sentenced a man to life imprisonment for beating his wife to death in February last year.
Mayurbhanj District and Sessions Judge Sanjay Ranjan Bahidar convicted Sambhu Naik and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
The court also ordered Naik to pay a fine of Rs 10,000.
According to prosecution, Naik had beaten his wife Shanti Naik (30), mother of three, to death, at Patharsahi village under the jurisdiction of Kaptipada police station on the night of February 7, 2017.
Police registered a murder case on the basis of a complaint filed by family members of the deceased woman. The court delivered its verdict after examining 15 witnesses during trial.
