Palande was arrested on April 10. Hours later he escaped from police custody but was re-captured the next day.
"How can an accused, booked in two murder cases, escape from police custody?" Magistrate G S Dhobale sought to know. "This is an issue which police should sort out."
Palande was produced in the court in connection with the escape case.
The court also objected to the behaviour of the policemen escorting the accused. "You walk with them by keeping your hand on their shoulders as if they are your friend. The police have to be very careful while escorting an accused. Carelessness is to be blamed for escape of the accused," it noted.
The Magistrate, however, rejected the police plea to handcuff Palande. "The court can not allow such an application, especially when the apex court has prohibited this practice. It can amount to contempt of court."
