In a case registered after the discovery of 60-year-old Asha outside AIIMS in unconscious state, the police has alleged that her daughter-in-law Reena Singhal wanted to do away with her to usurp her property after her death.
Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) T R Naval passed his order on framing of charges against Reena and two others for kidnapping, attempt to murder, robbery, dishonestly receiving stolen property, destruction of evidence and conspiracy.
Prosecution has alleged that Reena who is married to Asha's physically-challenged son Parag Singhal, had given milk laced with sleeping pills to her mother-in-law last year.
After the victim fell unconscious, Reena rented a car and took her to various hospitals before abandoning her on the gate of All India Institute of Medical Sciences, it said.
Later, Reena had approached the police for lodging a 'missing-person' complaint for Asha and had told police that her 60-year-old mother-in-law had left their Anand Vihar home in an auto on August 24 last year to meet her younger son Prateek in Paschim Vihar.
Victim Asha, however, on regaining consciousness in the hospital, where she was admitted after being found, had told the police that she wanted to sell her property and Reena was against it as she desired to possess it alone.
She said in order to kill her, Reena had started giving her slow poison by giving injections herself and on the day of incident, she had taken her to hospital in semi-conscious state.
The victim added that Reena had also taken her purse, mobile phone, jewellery and other articles in the car and left her near the hospital.
The court said that the evidence was creating "grave suspicion against accused, Reena and her aides Heera Lal and Vishal Kumar Magoo. (More)
