Two documents by a defence witness Vakil Singh, elder brother of accused, were submitted today to the CBI Special Court of Justice Anupam Srivastava, said defence lawyer Mahendra Morya.
As assured the court on his previous trial on January 8, the defense witness produced certified copies of legal documents obtained from Morena court which included a petition which he filed against the Banmore police station for illegally detaining accused's younger brother Virendra for 12 days and police demanding Rs 2 lakh for his release. Another document pertained to a false case lodged by Banmore police against Virendra, according to Morya.
The prosecution produced 18 witnesses, while the defence produced only four witnesses in the case.
The court has framed charges against Manoj Gurjar under Section 304 (culpable homicide) and Section 353 (use of criminal force to prevent a government official from discharging his duties) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 181 of the Motor Vehicles Act.
Gurjar is accused of mowing down Singh when the latter tried to stop the tractor-trolley loaded with illegally mined stones in Morena district of Madhya Pradesh on March 8, 2012.
Thirty-year-old Singh was posted as sub-divisional officer of police (SDOP) at Banmore at the time of incident.
