A local court today asked a juvenile court to ascertain the correct age of the main accused in the Vicky Tyagi murder case, who claimed that he was a minor at the time of arrest.

The accused today moved an application in this regard in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Narender Kumar which ordered that a juvenile court would conduct an enquiry to establish whether he was 18 at the time of arrest.

The accused claimed that he is a minor while police recorded his age above 19 years and produced him for a hearing in the court.

Tyagi was shot dead in a courtroom during a hearing in the 2011 Barakali murder case on February 16 by the accused, who was arrested from the spot.
