Condemning VHP leader Sadhvi Prachi's "Muslim-free India" remark, CPI today accused right wing outfits of creating "communally-charged atmosphere" eying Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls and asked the Centre to take action against those making such "provocative" statements.

"They are creating such a situation. . .They think hatred can be spread against a particular community to polarise people on communal line," CPI national secretary D Raja said.

Raja said it is all happening because UP is going to polls in 2017. "They want communally charged up atmosphere ahead of the polls," he said.

He urged people and "particularly those from UP" to see into the "sinister designs" of Sangh Parivar behind such statements and "not fall prey" to the same.

". . . The Union Home Ministry must also take action against those who are making such atrocious and provocative statements," the Parliamentarian said.

VHP leader Prachi had yesterday said it is time to make India "free of Muslims".

Known for courting controversies, she had claimed the mission of a "Congress-free India" has already been "accomplished" and it is now time to "rid the country of Muslims".
