CPI congratulates Satyarthi, Malala on winning Nobel Prize

CPI today congratulated Kailash Satyarthi and Malala Yusufzai for receiving the Nobel Peace Prize, saying it reflected their struggle for child rights to education and against extremism.

"It is a tribute to the great courage shown by them in their struggle against the suppression of children and for the right of all children to education," the party's Central Secretariat said in a statement.

It said the Nobel Committee had regarded it as an "important point for a Hindu and a Muslim, an Indian and a Pakistani, to join in a common struggle for education and against extremism".

It expressed hope that for the prize winners, it would be "very important to work for peace in our subcontinent.
