CPI workers today held demonstrations in front of banks here protesting against 'sudden demonetisation of high value currencies'.
Secretary of the local unit of the party R Viswanathan, who led the demonstration, said demonetisation had inflicted 'hardships' on the daily wage earners, traders, unorganised labourers and others.
The agitators also wanted extension of last date for exchange of scrapped currency notes till end of December, separate counters at the banks for women and senior citizens and deployment of mobile ATMs to enable the people to draw the money without facing difficulties.
