"There is a lot of speculation over the new leadership change in Congress. Rahul Gandhi has been appointed as the number two in the party. I do not know what change in policy such appointment represents. Just because he has become number 2, does it mean there has been change in their policy?" he said.
Addressing the media, the veteran leader expressed concern over rising prices and the floundering economy.
Bardhan slammed the UPA regime for not being able to take steps to control price rise and miseries of the masses.
"Absolutely nothing has been said about the change in policies. We fail to understand how Rahul Gandhi becoming the number 2 in the organisation will bring about any change. We are prepared to wait and watch for that, though we have grave doubts.
He noted that whatever policies are pursed by the congress are collectively decided by them, said Bardhan.
