CPI(M) today alleged that three women working under MGNREGA died in heatstroke in Jaisalmer, Ajmer and Baran districts and demanded proper shelters for the workers.

However, authorities denied knowledge of any such death.

"Three women MGNREGA workers died in Pokhran in Jaisalmer, Akrit Khedi village in Baran and Pisangan in Ajmer due to heatstroke yesterday. Besides, hundreds of workers are falling sick as there is no arrangement for protection from heat," CPI(M) state secretary Amra Ram said today.

He demanded adequate arrangements for shelters and drinking water for the workers.

However, chief medical officers and health officers of all the three districts said no such death occurred in their jurisdiction.
