Jammu and Kashmir Unit of CPI(M) today said the Centre should take a sympathetic view on the people's demand for return of power projects to the state in view of the dismal electricity supply scenario here.

"The Government of India must sympathetically consider the demand for return of power projects, keeping in view the dismal power scenario of the state," state secretary of CPI(M) M Y Tarigami said addressing a rally in south Kashmir.

He said the working group formed by the Centre to look into the economic affairs of the state had also supported the persistent and 'legitimate' public demand for return of power projects to the state.

On the other issues facing the state, Tarigami said the interest shown by political parties outside mainstream in day-to-day public issues was a welcome gesture but the Centre must shun its rigidity and show flexibility in reaching out to the voices of dissent in the Valley.
