The ruling CPI(M) candidate of the Charilam Constituency, Ramendra Narayan Debbarma today died of cardiac arrest today, CPI-M state party Secretary Bijan Dhar said.
Election to the 60-member Tripura Assembly would be held on February 18
Debbarma was 63 and is survived by wife and a son. He was the sitting MLA and won the election in 2013 elections from the same constituency on a CPI(M) ticket.

When contacted, Santosh Biswas, a member of the Sipahijala district committee member of CPI(M) said, he was campaigning in his constituency in the morning and felt some pain and was rushed to Bishalgarh hospital near his constituency.
The doctors referred him to Gobinda Ballav Panth hospital where he died during check up, Biswas said.
Election department officials said that polls in the constituency was likely to be stopped as per electoral laws.
