CPI(M) today condemned the hacking of a publisher in Bangladesh even as it wished that the NDA government had the "moral authority" to help Dhaka deal with the stifling of secular voices.

"Yet another horrific murder of a secular voice, this time of a publisher, in Bangladesh. Highly deplorable.

"Wish our Government had the moral authority to speak up and help B'desh (sic) and subcontinent deal with this brutal stifling of secular voices," CPI (M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury said in a series of tweets.

He further underlined the need to show hate-mongers the force of law and extended his party's support to "secular voices under siege" in Bangladesh.

Faisal Arefin Dipan, the publisher who worked with slain atheist writer and blogger Avijit Roy, was today hacked to death by unidentified assailants in Dhaka, shortly after two secular bloggers and another publisher of Roy were attacked in a separate incident.
