"We congratulate Pranab Mukherjee for being chosen as the Presidential candidate of UPA. He is a very senior leader of Congress," Karat said.
She said it is a common courtsey to congratulate people on such occasions.
On whether the Left would support him in the July 19 poll, Brinda Karat said "on the question of support, we will first discuss among ourselves and then with Left parties. Then will come up to a conclusion."
