The CPI-M today demanded withdrawal of six Bills by Andhra Pradesh government, including the Urban Development Authority Act Amendment Bill and the Infrastructure Development Act Amendment Bill, alleging some provisions thereof are against public interest.
"The two Bills (Urban Development Authority Act Amendment Bill and Infrastructure Development Act Amendment Bill) would allow the government to sell urban land to the corporates through acquisition," CPI-M state General Secretary P Madhu said here.
"Under these Bills, government can acquire land under 'Land Pooling' system, denying monetary compensation to the owners. If the government follows this system, the urban residents would not get land for constructing houses at normal prices," he said.

The six Bills were tabled in the state Legislative Assembly on December 19.
If the government does not withdraw these anti-people Bills, CPI-M, along with other Left parties would launch an agitation and a 'Chalo Assembly' march in February, he said.
