Claiming that only "big sharks" benefited from the Roshni Act, CPI(M) today demanded an inquiry by a high level commission into the implementation of the scheme.
"We demand constitution of a high level commission to go into the whole nitty-gritty details about the implementation of the Roshni Act in the state. Only big sharks like bureaucrats, politicians and moneyed persons have benefited by the scheme," CPI(M) state secretary M Y Tarigami said in the the state Assembly.
Instead of providing envisaged light and hope, the scheme has brought poor people into darkness and despair. It proved to be a big fraud for deserving people, Tarigami said during the debate on demand of grants for the Departments of Revenue, Rehabilitation, Law and Parlimentary Affairts.
