CPI(M) activists today staged demonstration in front of the Odisha Assembly here protesting against the Land Acquisition Bill, which they termed as "anti-farmer and anti-poor".
Taking a dig on the Naveen Patnaik, CPI(M) state secretary Ali Kishore Patnaik said, "We are surprised that the ruling BJD in Odisha is not opposing the bill. The double standards of the party have been exposed after it staged a walkout from the Lok Sabha giving a smooth passage to the bill"
The party's central committee member Janardan Pati alleged that both the BJP government at the Centre and the BJD government in the state are working for the benefit of corporate houses.
Stating that mineral rich states like Odisha would be adversely affected due to the the Land Acquisition Bill, the CPI(M) leaders said exclusion of consent provision is against the basic rights of the people.
