CPI(M) leader assaulted outside SDM office in Tripura

A CPI(M) leader was allegedly assaulted by some people outside the office of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Belonia in South Tripura district, police said Wednesday.

CPI(M) central committee leader Badal Choudhury Wednesday said Dutta, the party's Belonia sub-division unit secretary was assaulted allegedly by BJP activists on his way to SDM office for a meeting called by the SMD on Tuesday.

BJP state spokesman Ashok Sinha denied the allegations of Chowdhury.

Superintendent of police, South Tripura, Jal Singh Meena said CPI(M) leaders lodged a FIR at Belonia police station against Sanatan Sena leader Mrinal Sen and five others accusing them of the attack on Tuesday.
