West Bengal CID today summoned senior CPI(M) leader Gautam Deb in connection with some objectionable remarks he had allegedly made against West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee in April.

A senior CID official said that Deb has been asked to be present at the agency's headquarter in Bhawani Bhawan on Friday.

Deb had allegedly made some objectionable remarks against Banerjee while speaking at a public rally organised by Left students unions in April.

Several complaints had been lodged against Deb for his remark and CID started a probe based on the complaint of a lady lodged at Uttarpara police station.

Deb had also issued an apology after facing widespread flak for his remarks.
