Rajesh, who had surrendered before the Kannur Judicial First class magistrate court on Aug 13, soon after the high court rejected his anticipatory bail plea, submitted that the case was politically motivated.

He said he had not committed any offence as alleged and the allegation does not constitute any offence.

The petition will come up before the court next week.

CPI(m) Kannur district secretary, P Jayarajan, is among those arrested in the case.

Jayarajan and Rajesh had been charged under section 118 of IPC (concealing design to commit offence punishable with death or imprisonment for life) in connection with the murder of IUML worker Shukkoor at Keezhara on Feb 20 a few hours after the attack on a car in which Jayarajan and Rajesh were travelling at Ariyil.
