With both Congress and the Left Front fielding separate candidates in a few seats, the CPI-M today tried to reach out to the alliance partner by saying that in those "friendly fights" it would try not to contest on separate party symbols but did not make it clear whether they will withdraw their candidates or not.
"We will try that people don't get to see separate symbols of the respective parties in same seats. We are walking a path which has not been traveled before. We want to oust this undemocratic TMC regime and are ready to do whatever it takes to achieve that goal," CPI-M politburo member Mohammed Salim said.
The constituencies like Malatipur, Gajole and Harishchandrapur in Malda, Murshidabad, Raninagar, Naoda and Domkal in Murshidabad, Joypur in Purulia, and Kalchini in Jalpaguri might see 'friendly fights'.

Salim, however, dodged a direct reply to a question on whether both the Congress and the CPI-M would come together to campaign in the upcoming Assembly polls.
"Things are slowly unfolding, so please wait for some more time," Salim said when asked about the final outcome of the alliance.
The Congress yesterday announced the names of 75 constituencies from which it will fight as per an initial seat-sharing arrangement with the Left Front.
Salim mocked at Banerjee's kicking off the election campaign from north Bengal.
"Earlier, whenever she was under pressure she visited Darjeeling. Now that option is not there. So she has started from north Bengal as she is under tremendous presure. But she will not be able to reap any benefits there," Salim said.
