CPI-M questions propriety of revival of AINRC-AIADMK alliance

Press Trust of India Puducherry
: CPI(M) today questioned the propriety of ruling AINRC reviving alliance with AIADMK in the September 28 biennial poll for the lone Rajya Sabha seat here.

The party's local unit secretary R Rajangam said AINRC had ditched AIADMK in 2011 while forming the government though it had contested the poll in alliance with it.In this context, AINRC working out a pact with the latter was only making a 'mockery of democracy, he said.

Though the RS nominee N Gokulakrishan was earlier with the AINRC, he enrolled himself last week as an AIADMK member and was fielded as that party's nominee with AINRC support. "All this happened at lightning speed, pushing all democratic principles to the backburner," he said.

On the opposition block neither DMK nor Congress had shown any decent political behaviour, he said.

CPI(M) was working out plans to stage agitations to bring to focus the 'political opportunism' indulged in by ruling AINRC and other parties in the context of the RS poll and to urge the people to jettison such parties in future, Rajangam said.
