CPI (M) today "strongly" condemned India's abstention at United Nations Human Rights Commission on the Palestinian issue saying this has come just before Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Israel.

The CPI(M) also dubbed India of being "subordinate ally" of USA in today's world and demanded the NDA Government to reverse its position on Palestinian cause.

"We strongly condemn this decision. It is clearly in preparation to the Prime Minister's visit to Israel. Modi has completely reversed India's support to the Palestinian people, for their right to homeland.

"This clearly cements India's position as a subordinate ally of the USA in today's world. This is completely unacceptable to the people of India who have always stood with the Palestinian cause," CPI (M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury told PTI.

He added that the communist outfit will "strongly" raise the issue in forthcoming session of Parliament and demanded the Government to reverses its position over the issue.

India for the first time today abstained from voting on a resolution on Palestine at the United Nations human rights body that calls for accountability in last year's conflict in Gaza in which hundreds of Palestinians and six Israeli civilians were killed.
