In a bid to create a broader unity among Left parties, CPI(M) state secretary Biman Bose today met the CPI-ML (Liberation) leadership with proposals of fighting unitedly against the "rise of Communalism in India and assault of Capitalist forces in Gaza".

"Today I met the CPI-ML (Liberation) leadership with two proposals of unitedly fighting against the Capitalist forces against their onslaught in Gaza and fighting against rising Communal forces in the state and country," Bose told reporters.

Bose, who is also the Left Front chairman, had led a huge rally in Kolkata last month against Israel's offensive in the Gaza.

CPI-ML (Liberation) state secretary Partha Ghosh later told PTI that they have received both proposals from Bose and would discuss the matter in their upcoming central and state committee meetings later this month.

The CPI(M) led ten party Left Front, which is the main opposition in the state, have been working towards greater Left unity with like-minded Left parties since their Lok Sabha polls drubbings, in order to counter Trinamool Congress and BJP in the state.
