Amidst claims by the CPI(M) that the Trinamool Congress and the BJP are hand in glove, Union Minister Babul Supriyo today said the Marxists are propagating this to cover up their attempt to forge an alliance with the Congress.

"We have no understanding with the TMC. CPI(M) is talking about this only to divert people's attention from their move to forge an alliance with the Congress," the BJP leader said.

CPI(M) leaders, including party state secretary Surjya Kanta Mishra, had yesterday alleged that the TMC had an understanding with the BJP.

Meanwhile, TMC national spokesperson Derek O'Brien said his party has a strong alliance with the people of Bengal.

"TMC government has done some great work across the state. We are humbly confident that we will do very very well," he said adding BJP, CPI(M) and Congress "are our political opponents.
