CPI(M) veteran greets Amritanandamayi on birthday

CPI(M) veteran V S Achuthanandan today greeted spiritual leader Mata Amritanandamayi on her 62nd birthday which was celebrated at her Ashram in Vallikavu in the district.

Achuthanandan, leader of opposition in the state Assembly who was among the list of invitees but did not attend the function, said in a message that Amritanandamayi has been showering love and respite to lakhs of people who suffered agony.

Besides this, the Math is also engaged in taking up various wefare schemes for common man. The Math's decision to spend Rs 100 crore for the construction of toilets and sanitation works was part of this initiative, he said, adding, "it is highly commendable".
 

State Governor P Sathasivam, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha P J Kurien, BJP National President Amit Shah, Union Ministers Najma Heptulla, Sripad Yasoo Naik, Manoj Sinha, state Ministers Ramesh Chennithala, K Babu, Ambassador of France to India Francois Richier and former VHP President Ashok Singhal were among those present at the celebrations in which thousands of people from across the country and abroad participated.
