CPI-M Tamil Nadu Secretary G.Ramakrishnan today demanded a CBI probe into the death of a 19-year-old girl, suspected to have been killed by relatives to protect the family honour after she eloped with a Dalit boy.

Addressing a demonstration, organised by the 'Untouchability Eradication front' here, he said police should register the death as honour killing, and also provide protection for the boy.

"It is not proper to register the death as a suicide, and CPI-M would fight this case till justice is achieved," he said.He also stressed the need for implementation of a special act to prevent honour killings.

He said as per his information, 32 honour killings had taken place in the state so far.
