CPI-ML member held for posting offensive messages on social

A CPI-ML member has been arrested for allegedly posting offensive messages against Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonawal and All Assam Students Union (AASU) in a Whatsapp group, in Biswanath Chariali in Biswanath district.

Deputy Superintendent of Police, Biswanath Chariali, Mausumi Kalita told PTI that Parimal Gaur, hailing from Ginjia area of the district, was arrested on May 9 on the basis of an FIR lodged by AASU Biswanath unit, which alleged that he had posted an offensive message in a particular group of the instant messaging application.

Gaur, who is a Communist Party of India (Marxist- Leninist) member of Biswanth district unit and is in-charge of the food and education wing of the party, was sent to 14 days judicial custody yesterday by a Tezpur court, he said.
 

Sources said Gaur had allegedly commented against Sonowal and the influential AASU which the Chief Minister had headed during his student days.
