CPI opposes Food security Bill, demands changes

"We are protesting against the central government for coming up with a lopsided food security bill. CPI opposes such a bill," CPI Secretary, Jammu Regional Council, Dr G S Charak told reporters here.

Charak, who led a protest rally in the border town of R S Pura in the district, demanded that the policy of APL and BPL should be done away with and all citizens should be given foodgrains at the rate of 35 kg per person every month at an affordable prices of Rs 2 per kg.

He said that not only the food grains but edible oil, sugar and pulses should also be brought under public distribution system.
