CPI today staged a protest outside the office of Deputy Commissioner of Police in Pitampura over worsening law and order and claimed that corruption prevailed at "most of the police stations" in Outer Delhi district.
Led by Dinesh Varshney, assistant secretary of the Left party's Delhi unit, the protesters condemned alleged police inaction and accused the DCP of not making regular surprise visits to stations as decided after the 2012 Nirbhaya case.
"The DCP should resolve public complaints in a time-bound manner. Or else, CPI will be compelled to organise a massive protest at PHQ (Police Headquarters at ITO)," Varshney warned, according to a statement.

The protesters claimed that women were the victims in most of the crimes in the district.
"Girls are harassed on roads. Girl schools were not provided security. Anti-social elements stand throughout the school hours," Rukmani Devi, Secretary, West Delhi district Mahila Federation, was quoted as saying in the statement.
Later, a delegation of the party submitted a memorandum to the DCP, a copy of which was also sent to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung and Police Commissioner Alok Kumar Verma.
