Stressing that the BJP had not learnt lessons despite protests against the Land Acquisition Ordinance, CPI today accused the saffron party of being "hell-bent" on snatching lands of farmers over its plans to don the mask of being "pro-poor" and campaign in support of the "anti-farmer" ordinance.

"The CPI is disappointed with the decision of BJP National Executive to carry on with the campaign in support of the anti-farmer Land Acquisition Ordinance. The BJP National Executive wants to don the mask of pro-poor through the campaign.

"BJP has not learnt any lesson from protests of the people. The (Narendra) Modi wave is waning away to due to its naked pro-corporate, pro-MNC and anti-people's measures. Instead of correcting its course, the BJP is hell-bent to snatch land from farmers to satisfy the lust of industrialists of the country," CPI general secretary S Sudhakar Reddy said.

Reddy also slammed BJP for "not making an attempt" to control irresponsible statements made by the likes of Union Minister Giriraj Singh.

"It is not surprising that the irresponsible statements of Giriraj Singh and Sadhvis did not find any place in the discussions and no attempt was made to control the venom that they are pouring on the nation," he said.

Reddy further said Prime Minister Narendra Modi's praise showered on BJP president Amit Shah was a signal for those leaders in the party who are disappointed with the latter's style of functioning.

"They are being asked to keep mum or get marginalised. People should get ready to fight the anti-people policies of BJP," he said.
