CPI today slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's remarks on the Dadri lynching incident as "too little and too late" saying it amounted to dereliction of duty.
"The lynching incident was directly related to BJP and the sangh parivar. The prime minister saying the government has nothing to do with the incident is dereliction of duty because he is the prime minister and has a mandate to uphold Constitutional values," party MP D Raja said.
Reacting to Modi's description of the lynching incident as "undesirable and unfortunate", he said the killing of a Muslim man on rumours of beef eating was the "height of intolerance and cultural fascism" and the prime minister must act against those who were behind it.
"The government must assure the people it will act strictly act against those fomenting communal trouble instead of accusing the opposition parties of practising pseudo- secularism.
