CPI today targetted the Centre over Pathankot attack, alleging that it lacked "clarity and collectivity" on crucial issues, and asked why Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh was not taken along when Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid visit to the airbase.

"Internal security, border security and paramilitary forces are with the Home Minister. Why he is not taken along when the Prime Minister went to Pathankot, we are not able to understand.

"Why Singh is not involved? Nobody knows. This government somewhere lacks the clarity and collectivity on crucial issues," CPI national secretary D Raja said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had visited the strategic Pathankot air base for a first-hand assessment of the situation in the aftermath of the terror attack on January 9.

In a pre-dawn attack, a group of heavily-armed Pakistani terrorists attacked the Air Force base in Pathankot on January 2.

Six terrorists, believed to owe allegiance to Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed were gunned down by the security forces after a four-day gun battle. Seven Indian security personnel also lost their lives.
