country-wide agitation against the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre to highlights its failures and accused it of working at the behest of the US and favouring corporate houses.

"CPI and other left parties will launch a country-wide agitation against the UPA government to highlight its failures and to demand among other things food for all," senior CPI leader D Raja told reporters here.

The state units would organise protests in different forms

including demonstrations and rallies, and a massive 'dharna' would also be held during the monsoon session of Parliament in New Delhi, the CPI leader said.

Slamming the Congress-led government for spiralling inflation, Raja termed as inadequate the reduction in petrol price announced by oil marketing companies last week.

Alleging that economic advisors were also pressurising the

government to effect hike in the prices of other petroleum products like diesel and cooking gas, he accused the UPA of succumbing to US pressure.

In order to placate the US administration, the government

has strained its relation with Iran and the quantum of oil import from Iran has therefore come down considerably, he claimed, adding the Iran-Pakistan-India gas pipeline has almost been given up by the UPA jeopardising the interest of our people.

Accusing UPA of pursuing policies in favour of corporate

houses, Raja said common people were hit hard as the government gave huge tax concessions, bailout packages and other benefits to corporates.
