CPI today urged the Telangana government to withdraw a proposal to build a uranium plant in the Nallamala forest area in Nagarkurnool district, saying that the unit would adversely affect the ecology and also the inhabitants of the region.

In a letter to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, CPI state secretary Chada Venkata Reddy alleged that the plant would destroy the forest in the area, displace local residents and also affect the health of people during the process of taking out uranium.
