Jammu and Kashmir unit of CPI(M) today advocated for early disposal of pay anomaly issue in the police department, saying "meeting of the demand will have a very positive effect on the overall morale of the force in the state".

"The pay anomaly in police department has brewed a sense of disillusionment among the force which needs to be addressed on priority.

"The government should not leave this issue of utmost importance to the procedural wrangling and the required orders must be issued keeping in view the price rise and the inflation," state Secretary of CPI (M) M Y Tarigami said in a statement here.

He said the issue of pay anomaly pertains to almost 90 per cent of the police force.

The CPI(M) leader sought the intervention of the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah into the matter for its speedy disposal.

"The cold response by the government to the genuine demand is a cause for serious concern.

"It is regrettable that even after implementation of the 6th Pay Commission recommendations in the state, the issue of pay anomalies continues to persist in the police department as the state government did not address the same in time," he said.
