A 29-year-old Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) constable allegedly committed suicide here today after his marriage proposal was refused by girl's family due to his addiction to alcohol, police said.
Balasamy, posted in Assam, had come to his native place Kosavampatty on a month's leave for his marriage. He along with his family members had gone to Chennai to see a girl, they said.
However, as he was found allegedly drunk, the girl's family refused to entertain the proposal, they said.
Upset over this, the youth on returning here, ended his life by hanging himself at his sister's house, police added.
