CPWD will pay Rs 200 per day to the occupant of a house as a compensation for delay in attending to maintenance complaints within the stipulated time-frame.
Urban Development Ministry has initiated a reform agenda by approving a maintenance charter for the CPWD in January that defines the time period by which different type of complaints should be attended to.
There are about 1,42,000 residential units and 2.3 million sq m plinth area of non-residential buildings being maintained by the urban construction body. These quarters are occupied by Government of India employees from Group-I to Group-IV.
The complaints related to maintenance of the house quarters is lodged by the occupants through call centre -- 18002664499/1800114499 or online.
To take this reform agenda forward, now it has been decided that CPWD will pay to the occupant, a compensation Rs 200 per day for delay in attending the maintenance complaints within the time frame prescribed in the charter, a senior UD Ministry official said.
CPWD maintains those central government buildings whose ownership is vested with the Ministry of Urban Development, from the funds reflected in its Demands of Grants. It also maintains other central government buildings constructed by CPWD, from funds provided by user departments.
According to the maintenance charter, emergency services like blocked drains, power or water-related complaints are to be attended to within six hours.
Minor services like cleaning of drains, water overflow, faulty switches are to be attended to in three days.
Major works like repairs of doors, windows, plumbing, internal wiring are to be done within 30 days.
Periodical maintenance like white-washing, painting, cleaning water tanks are to be carried out within 60 days.
