In the largest-ever augmentation in its history, Central Railway today announced it has attached 100 coaches in 50 trains on a permanent basis, thus increasing the passenger accommodation in them considerably.
"Never in the past has any railway attached 100 coaches permanently. This has led to increase of earnings to the tune of Rs 1.19 crore daily," Central Railway chief PRO Narendra Patil told reporters here.
CR has also launched intensive drives/campaigns on safety, cleanliness, ticket checking and anti-tout campaign, the senior railway official said.

Following is year-wise permanent augmentation on Central Railway (year, trains, coaches) - 2011-12: 29, 55; 2012-13: 27, 81; 2013-14: 19, 34; 2014-15: 50, 100.
The direction wise details are as under: 20 trains with 47 coaches including 18 AC towards Howrah, Lucknow, Varanasi, Patna, Gorakhpur, Allahabad, Puri, Sultanpur, Azamgarh.
Five trains with 14 coaches including 6 AC towards Agra, Amritsar, Habibganj, Haridwar.
Twelve trains with 16 coaches including 13 AC towards Nagpur, Aurangabad, Madgaon, Karmali, Sawantwadi Road, Gondia, Kolhapur, Solapur, Pandharpur.
Eight trains with 11 coaches including 4 AC towards Kochuveli, Madurai, Secunderabad, Nizamabad, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Pune.
Five trains with 12 second class coaches towards Bhusaval, Katni, Baramati, Nizamabad, Pandharpur.
Central Railway also has the distinction of running the first-ever fully Tatkal Special Trains between Lokmanya Tilak Terminus here and Madgaon, he said.
