A 30-year-old crab hunter was dragged away by a tiger at Jharkhali forest in the Sundarbans while he was preparing to return home, Forest department officials said today.

Sailen Majhi was hunting crabs along with three others at a creek since August 25.

When they were pushing their boat to a river to leave the creek and return home last evening, a tiger pounced on him and dragged him away, the officials said.

The other three tried hard to chase the predator but failed, the officials said, adding the body was not yet found.

Majhi was a resident of Jharkhali under Basanti police station.

Earlier, a 22-year-old crab hunter was taken away by a tiger at Benifeli jungle in the Sundarbans on August 23.
