Crackdown on stone crusher units indulging in illegal mining

With this, the total number of stone crusher units indulging in illegal mining in the district rose to 18, the officer said.

A local stone crushers association today held a protest at labour chowk saying "false" cases were being lodged against them.

The association of stone crushers met Punjab BJP president and MLA Ashwani Sharma and asked him to intervene to stop police from booking stone crusher owners.

There are more than 100 stone crushers dotting river beds of Ravi and Chakki rivers and sand and gravel material is being sold to far off places, officials said.
