Cracker factory owner dies in fire

A cracker factory owner died of burn injuries today after a fire broke out in his unit in Mansoor Ke village in the district when he was giving a demonstration to a customer, police said.

Kunan Singh, who was running a mini firecracker factory in the outskirts of Qadian town, was alone in the factory when the fire broke out, police said.

The roof of the factory was blown off as the crackers caught fire and Singh sustained serious injuries, they said, adding that he died on way to civil hospital in Batala.

Fire tenders took an hour to extinguish the fire, police said.
